How to make Sun Rose Flower Design with 1 inch satin ribbon

Hello Omoge, fine fine lady. Its been a while. How do you do? There are lots of things happening around us today. Things that make us smile and others make us frown. My goal today is to put a smile on your face. To do this, I am sharing with you how to make Sun Rose Flower Design with 1 inch satin ribbon.

There are lots of wonderful things you can do with your hands and its fun when you make a thing of joy with your hands. Making sun rose is one of the best things that can happen to you aside from giving you extra income when you sell it.

Below I will be sharing with you step by step on how you can make your favorite sun rose design with 1 inch satin ribbon. 

Before I share with you the steps, let me first show you the tools you need and what to look out for.

Materials for sun rose design:

1. Measurement tape or Meter rule; This is important when making sun rose design. It comes in different sizes and colors. I like using 1 inch wide and 60 inch long measurement tape because it is flexible and easy to use. The colors I work with best are blue, white, pink, green, and yellow.

2. Scissors; There are different designs and sizes of scissors. Some come with plastic handles, while others have metallic handles. They also different brands like mH, Yusun, En power sha, and Shears.

I love to use scissors with plastic handle because its easy to hold and I can use it for long hours at a stretch.

3. High Quality Satin Ribbon; I like working with high quality materials. This is because it makes my work durable and stand out. There are lots of satin ribbon brands in the market, the ones I like best are mH and two rose. 

Also, there are different sizes of satin ribbons ranging from 1/2 inch to 3inch or more. For this post, I will be working with 1 inch satin ribbon.

4. Sewing Threads; This is an important material when making sun rose design. They come in different colors, sizes, and brands. There are lots of brands out there, the ones I use most times are Belfil, mH, and yellow cone. It is best to use high quality threads for durable stitches.

5. Hand Sewing Needles; This also comes in different sizes. I like to use smaller size of about 3 inch long. This makes it easy to glide through ribbon and makes my work fast.

6. Glue; You can find lots of glue for fabric in the market. The most money saving glue I use is 'Candle gum'. Why I like using candle gum is because it is cheap and it holds fabric together well.

The only down side it has is that it needs electric 'glue gun' to be able to apply it. Although, I have been able to devise a method of using it without the glue gun. 

You can use this method even if there is no electric power supply in your area. It is the use of heat from candle flame or any other flame source to melt the candle gum before applying on fabric. Please be careful while using this method and ensure there is ventilation.

7. Working Table and Chair; This could be of any size. You can choose a large working area and a small working space with table and chair will be alright.

8. White padded; For covering stitches at the back of the rose design and for attaching pin to it.

 Steps:

1. Thread hand sewing needle making sure you double the thread in the needle and tie a knot.

2. Cut 15inch of satin ribbon and burn edges with a flame. 

3.  Cut 4 inch of satin ribbon in eight places.

4.  Fold each of the 4inch satin ribbons as if forming a diagonal meeting at the base and stitch together.

5. Join together the eight petals with thread and needle.

6. Tie the threads together and arrange petals to form bottom layer of the rose design.

7.  Burn both edges of the satin ribbon and fold the beginning edge in two.

8. Place the needle and thread at the folded edge and gather the ribbon together. Tie both edges together forming the top layer of the rose flower.

9. Gum the top and bottom layer together.

10. Cut out the white pad, attach a pin to it and gum at the base of the rose flower.
