Learn How to make High Quality DIY Hand made Satin Ribbon Roses

Hey Omoge, fine fine lady, you look so cute today I am going to show you how to make high-quality satin ribbon rose. There are different ways you can look good and one of that is to dress good and the other is feeling good. To dress well, you need some fashion accessories like bags, shoes, pinups, ribbon roses, etc., so you can show the world what stuff you are made of or in this place of the world we say "pepper them".

Here are ways you can make high-quality ribbon rose flower with no stress at all but first I would let you know that some of the rose deigns am sharing with you are well-known designs while others are not and I will be sharing with you the step by step method of making these designs in the comfort of your home or garage in case you do not have or can not afford an office space, machine, or even glue gun. If you are looking to make money from this, I must say that you can make good money from it all that it requires is dedication and commitment and like they say "the sky is just your starting point".

Equipment needed: The equipment needed is inexpensive and can be gotten from your regular craft or tailoring shops. Here they are;

1. Thread; this can be of any product but the most important thing is that it should be strong and of high quality, personally, I use 'Yisun' threads for most of my works and experts recommend so.

              2. Needle; There are different sizes of hand sewing needle but the one I mostly use is about 1.5inch (3.81cm) long of durable quality.

3. Measuring Tape; I like to use a measuring tape which is about 60inch(152.4cm) long and 1/2inch(1.27cm) but in case you do not have tape rule, you can use a meter rule.

4. Candle Sticks and Stand; You may be wondering what has candle got to do with rose making, well it can help you minimize the cost of electricity and glue guns and that is by the use of lighted candles for melting the glue before application. You can use glue guns if you can afford regular electric power supply in your area but if not, using candles work effectively as well. A word of caution is to use candle stands, the room or office should be well ventilated and off candles when not in use to avoid wasting it and fire outbreaks.

5. Scissors; There are different types and sizes of scissors to use but you want to use the ones that are comfortable to hold since you may be doing lots of cutting along the process. I love to use medium size Yisun scissors because of the feel it has on my hands.

6. Fire Lighter; This can be found in places where they sell household items or in craft shops. There are different products in the market but the one I like to use is 'Ada best quality lighters'. The reason I prefer using it is that it lasts long and serves me better.

7. Satin Ribbon; This should be of high-quality material for the rose design to look attractive and durable. There are different products you can find in the market but the type I like to use is 'Two Birds' and 'MH'.It also comes in different sizes ranging from 0.5inch to 4inch but for this post, I would be using a 1inch satin ribbon.

8. White Thick Pad: This can be used for different purposes but for this post, it is used for covering the back of your rose flower and adding finishing touchings to it. It enables you to attach the rose firmly on fabrics without making a mess.

9. Glue Sticks: These are cylindrical glue sticks about 12inch long and 1.5inch round that are used for holding fabrics together. It can be applied by first heating it using a glue gun or flame from a candle. It is cost-effective and recommended especially if you just starting your career in craftmanship.

10. Safety Pins; There are different sizes, colors and qualities of safety pins that you can attach to your satin ribbon rose for easy attachment to any fabric of your choice. There are also some very fashionable ones of high durability that you can use. For this post am using small gold safety pins because I like the color gold and it portrays a sense of worth to me.

Now its time to dive into how to make each of the roses and I will be taking them to step by step so you can be able to grab the process. First I will go through the ones that are common and easier to make before going through the complicated ones.

1. Typical Rose Flower; This rose flower is easy to make and you can use it to start up your craft-making experience.

Steps;

1. Cut out a satin ribbon of 30 to 50inch (76 to 127cm) using tape rule and scissors.
2. Burn both edges of satin ribbon using a flame to prevent loosing at the edges.
3. Fold about 2inch of ribbon and apply glue in between.
4. Fold the bottom edge again and apply glue in between
5. Twist the up of the folded edge round and apply glue at the base to hold together.
6. Keep twisting the upper edge in a round pattern and apply glue as you twist to hold together.
7. Gum the last part of the folded ribbon at the base of the rose flower.
8. Cut out a round white pad, fold it in two and cut two lines in between for attaching the pin.
9. Attach the pin, apply glue around the white pad and attach the base of the rose flower  

2. SunRose Flower: The next type of rose flower is a little bit complicated but with practice, it becomes very easy to do. I call it sunrose because it looks just like the sun when worn and adds lots of beauty and elegance to your stylish wears. It can be used for women's blouse, Ankara bags and shoes and whatever you can imagine with it.

Steps:

1. Thread hand sewing needle making sure you double the thread in the needle and tie a knot.
2. Cut 15inch of satin ribbon.
3. Cut 4inch of satin ribbon into 10 places.
4. Cut 3inch of satin ribbon into 10 places.
5. Fold each of the 4inch satin ribbons diagonally meeting at the base and burn the base of the formed rose petal pressing it together after burning to stick.
6. Repeat step 4 for the 3inch satin ribbon.
7. Join the 4inch and 3inch petals alternately with the thread and needle.
8. Tie the thread together and arrange the petals forming the bottom layer of the rose flower.
9. Burn both edges of the satin ribbon and fold the beginning edge in two.
10. Place the needle and thread at the folded edge and gather the ribbon together. Tie both edges together forming the top layer of the rose flower.
11. Gum the top and bottom layer together.
12. Cut out the white pad, attach a pin to it and gum at the base of the rose flower.

3. Dahlia Rose: This is a very beautiful rose with lots of colorful petals in nature, native to Mexico and Central America. Its natives include the sunflower, daisy, and zinnia. There are 42 species with hybrids commonly grown as garden plants. Making this flower artificially is a bit complicated but easy to do when mastered.

Steps:

1. Cut 15inch of satin ribbon and burn edges with a flame. 
2. Cut 1inch of satin ribbon in ten places.
3. Cut 1.5inch of satin ribbon in ten places.
4. Cut 2inch and 2.5inch of satin ribbon in ten places respectively.
5. Place the edge of each ribbon on the tip of the flame so it can curl inwards.
6. Fold the other edge of each ribbon in two, burn and press firmly to hold together.
7. Join the petals of 1inch and 1.5inch alternately forming a middle layer of rose.
8. Join the petals of 2inch and 2.5inch alternately forming a lower layer of rose.
9. Join the middle and lower layer of rose with glue.
10. Fold the edges of the 15inch ribbon and gather together using thread and needle forming the upper layer of rose.
11. Join the upper, middle and layer of rose together forming a complete dahlia rose.
12. Cut out white pad, attach a pin to it and stick it at the base of the flower with glue.
